Abstract

The triterpene, lup-20(29)-en-3-ol (lupeol) was isolated from the Nigerian medicinal plant Lonchocarpus cyanescens Benth. The structure elucidation was carried out by using m.p., [α]D,IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and MS. The assignment of carbon spectral data was made by DEPT and the 2-Dimensional 13C-13C Autocorrelated Double Quantum Coherence technique (Autocorrelated 2D-DQC spectroscopy).
