Abstract
A reverse phase HPLC method of estimating vasicine, the major bioactive alkaloid of Adhatoda vusica, has been standardized. Using this sensitive and precise method, vasicine was estimated in 2 polyherbal drug formulations - Shereeshadi Kashaya and Yastyadivati, as well as in the leaves and the stem of A. vasica. Vasicine content was found to be 18.1 mg/100 g in Shereeshadi Kashaya and 0.7 mg/100g in Yastyadivati.
