Comparative Pharmacognostic Studies on the Leaves of Eclipta alba and Wedelia calendulacea

Abstract

Pharmacognostic studies on the leaves of Eclipta alba Hassk. and Wedelia calendulaceu Less. (both family Compositae) have been performed. Microscopic characteristicss of the leaves and stems have been compared. Fluorescence characteristics of the leaf powders and the extracts of the leaves in various solvents have been compared along with quantitative values, ash values and extractive values. Phytochemical analysis of the extracts of the leaf powders in various solvents have been performed.
