Abstract
The alkaloid-containing fraction obtained from Nicotiana tabacum was tested for its insecticidal and phagodeter-rent activities against the Red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum. Treatment of the larvae with concentrations ranging from 20000 to 50000 ppm resulted in larval mortality and juvenomimetic effects. The alkaloid-containing fraction also showed feeding deterrent activity at concentrations of 3%.
