The Oxygen- and Carbon-Dioxide Tensions in the Pulmonary Veins

Abstract

The technique of transseptal left heart cathe-terization has been adapted for selective catheterization of the pulmonary veins in order to establish ventilation/ perfusions ratios in term of local pO2 and pCO2.

Data from a patient with normal pulmonary function is presented as well as results from patients with localized lung disease in order to demonstrate the diagnostic applicability of the method.
