Abstract
A new method for recording arterial pulse curves is described. It is based on the use of ultrasound. Echoes from an artery vary in amplitude synchronously with the passage of a pulse wave in the artery. These variations in amplitude are recorded on a direct-writing recorder and a modified rise-time is measured on the curves. In this way, it is possible to distinguish between normal and pathological arterial conditions in the lower extremities. The method may represent a new approach to the solution of some problems concerning arterial diseases.
