Congenital Bilateral “Subclavian Steal” Blood Flow Pattern:Report of a Case with Coarctation of the Aorta and Anomalous Right Subclavian Artery

Abstract

A case of aortic coarctation combined with an anomalous right subclavian artery with both subclavian arteries arising distal to the coarctation is described. Bilateral reversion of the blood flow in both vertebrals was demonstrated. The main collaterals between the carotid arteries and the vertebrals were extracranial. The intra-cerebral circulation was unaffected. The patient, a nine-year-old boy, was successfully treated by operation.
