Aneurysms of the Hepatic Artery and of the Left Coronary Artery with Myocardial Infarction

Abstract

The case of a 14-year-old boy with progressive congestive heart failure leading to death is reported. Four years earlier he probably had a rheumatic inflammation followed by intraabdominal bleeding; at laparotomy a ruptured aneurysm of the hepatic artery was found. Six months after the operation he probably had a relapse of the rheumatic inflammation, and shortly afterwards his heart symptoms started. At autopsy two aneurysms of the left coronary artery were found, with thrombosis and occlusion of the anterior descending branch and extensive myocardial infarction. These aneurysms, as well as the aneurysm of the hepatic artery, were of undetermined aetiology, in our opinion most likely rheumatic.
