Benign Oesophageal Stricture

Pages 104-106 | Published online: 12 Jul 2009

Abstract

During a ten-year period, 25 patients were treated for benign oesophageal strictures of varying aetiology. Thirteen were treated successfully with dilatation alone. Ten patients with low strictures, of which eight were due to peptic oesophagitis, underwent oesophageo-plasty, which cannot be recommended, while two had colon transposition because of extensive corrosion due to lye or acid.
