Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy Literature Summaries and Analyses

ABSTRACT

Timely and important studies are reviewed and commentaries provided by leading palliative care clinicians. Symptoms, interventions, and treatment-related adverse events addressed in this issue are hyperglycemic effects of antipsychotics in the elderly; non-stainless steel metallic stents for relief of gastric outlet obstruction; larval débridement of venous leg ulcers; promethazine predisposes at-risk patients to prolonged QTc intervals; and patients’ expectations of acceptable reduction in pain intensity.
