Equalization of Asymmetric Extremities in Children Using Electric Fields

Pages 205-212 | Published online: 07 Jul 2009

Abstract

An electric field produced by the contact potential of metal foils was applied to 15 children afflicted with bilateral leg-length differences. The treatment consisted of the use of positive arid negative contact potentials in contralateral extremities requiring growth stimulation and suppression, respectively. A trend toward leg-length equalization was observed only when the contact potentials were applied continuously.
