Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Wolff's (1) law, which summarizes the biofeedback of bone tissue for remodeling, states that “bony trabeculi are oriented so as to best resist the extrinsic forces which they must support.” Later, Roux (2) made a similar observation: “A bone adapts itself to its functional form by practicing the functions; this is realized by means of hypertrophy and atrophy.”
