Abstract

A dentist with chronic elemental mercury intoxication, peripheral neuropathy, and visual disturbances was removed from exposure and treated with two 5-d courses of N-acetyl-D,L-penicillamine. Treatment with this experimental chelating agent resulted in an increase in urinary mercury excretion and slight clinical improvement.
