Abstract
Fortunate are we that some 24 years ago a group of dermatologists and toxicologists with vision and intellectual curiosity organized the First Symposium on Cutaneous Toxicity. It was held in this very hotel, The Mayflower, with over 400 people registered. The Conference was under the joint auspices of the Society of Toxiciology and the American Medical Association's Committee on Cutaneous Health and Cosmetics. Harry W. Hays, Ph.D., a member of both the AMA Committee and the Society of Toxicology, was instrumental in promoting the first interdisciplinary meeting.
