Abstarct

What of the future? Despite the organizers confidence in the progress and development of the photographic, film and audiovisual field, a few of the regular exhibitors were missing this year, and in the present financial situation it would not be surprising to see more companies out of the race in two years time.

As far as equipment goes, the increased use of the microchip and digital methods will be of increasing importance. Other manufacturers can be expected to follow Ilfords lead in introducing black and white silver free negative material (XP1 was already on sale in the shops of Cologne). Low cost, simple to operate video equipment will offer an alternative to slides and film where quality or large scale projection is not required.
