Abstract

Narrowing of the maxillary ostium is often the root cause of chronic sinusitis. By performing an intra nasal antrostomy the condition can be improved. A quantitative photogrammetric study was required to measure the creation of an opening from the maxillary sinus into the nose; to measure the size of each antrostomy at every visit and to determine the degree of closure. Attempts were made to obtain accurate measurements using a modified nasendoscope which was attached to a 35 mm camera.
