Abstract

The Pathology Department at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine offers a course of training to senior medical laboratory scientists from overseas to enable them to become accredited tutors in their own hospital or university services. The course is centred around modern laboratory technology and teaching methods. Candidates for the course are attracted via The British Council, WHO and other international organisations. Approximately 15 hours of lectures and practical sessions are used to teach the fundamentals of audiovisual presentation and design, ranging from simple wallcharts to television and videorecording. Trainee tutors are encouraged to illustrate their main course projects using photography and give class presentations with audiovisual material they have prepared.
