Competency-based education for the medical art student

Pages 84-86 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

It is felt that the present method of training medical artists in America gives too much emphasis to the learning of the basic sciences and insufficient time is devoted to the training of illustrative skills. This can result in artists having limited practical skills on completion of their course. An alternative curriculum is described which emphasizes practical training that will meet the professional challenges of the future.
