Illustrating the ocular fundus

Pages 100-103 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

For artists to be able to create a comprehensive illustration of an ocular fundus they must be able to examine the fundus themselves. This requires them to be proficient in the use of binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy and scleral indentation, they must be able to recognize normal anatomical structures and pathological variations in the ocular fundus. A detailed step-by-step explanation is given on how to perform the examination.
