The Pritchard Mark II elbow prosthesis in rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract

The results of hinged total elbow prosthesis are poor, with a high rate of loosening (Souter 1973, Garrett et al. 1977, Morrey et al. 1981 b). The Pritchard Mark II elbow prosthesis provides some rotation and medial/lateral laxity in the hinge, and several studies suggest that this improvement of the Pritchard-Walker design has reduced the incidence of loosening (Inglis and Pellicci 1980, Pritchard 1981, Rosenfeld and Anzel 1982).
