Elderly Consumers' Views of Community and Mail-Order Pharmacies

Pages 3-20 | Published online: 04 Dec 2011

Abstract

A survey was conducted to compare elderly consumers' reasons for using and experiences with mail-order and community pharmacies. The results indicated that elderly consumers who use community pharmacies do so for price and convenience. Consumers who use mail-order pharmacies do so for lower prices. Greater convenience was not an important motive for this group, .probably because of their lack of mobility-limiting conditions. Few consumers reported problems with either source of prescriptions.
