Abstract
The objectives of this study were to further validate an instrument to measure patient satisfaction and to explore the possible effects of a pharmacy assistance program for the elderly on patient satisfaction. Data were collected in telephone interviews with 180 recent prescription purchasers in Iowa. Satisfaction was measured using a previously developed multi-item, multidimensional instrument. Relationships between satisfaction and patient demographics, use, and provider characteristics were assessed. The relationships between these variables and satisfaction differed across the dimensions of satisfaction. The construct validity of the instrument was supported.
