ABSTRACT

A 1-credit elective course, Pharmacy Research Seminar, was established to give pharmacy students at all levels an appreciation of the research process. The course, which has been given for two consecutive years, consists of a weekly presentation and discussion by a senior honors student or faculty member representing all pharmacy disciplines. The presenters describe how they approach a research problem. Students are graded on the basis of team-produced essays, summarizing the presentation, and posing questions generated by the group. At the end of the course, students are asked to complete a course evaluation. Evidence indicated a change in the student's view of pharmacy research and a possible effect of their career plans.
