A Method for the Quantitative Microbiological Check of Heat Decontaminators

Pages 245-253 | Published online: 02 Jan 2015

Abstract

A method for the quantitative microbiological check of hot water decontaminators, using test organisms in sealed polythene capillary tubes, is described. The sensitivity of the method was tested by using 6 different vegetative bacteria and a bacteriophage (Felix 01) in 2 flushing unit prototypes; the disinfection effect being varied by alterations in the temperature of the hot water or in the quantity of hot water admitted during the disinfection period. The method made possible the examination of the disinfecting capacity at different test points of the treated objects or in various parts of the flush casing.
