Abstract
A 45-year-old male developed acute renal failure 4 days after onset of influenza symptoms. Total anuria necessitated 17 days of peritoneal dialysis. During the treatment serious affection of the CNS occurred, indicated by retinal hemorrhages and focal epileptic seizures. The cerebral symptoms disappeared gradually and the renal function returned to normal after 2 years. Influenza virus A2 infection was documented by serial serological investigations.
