Pages 257-258 | Published online: 02 Jan 2015

Abstract

Doxycycline was given as preventive peroperative treatment to 64 patients with fractured collum femoris. 46 patients, not administered doxycycline, served as controls. The overall incidence of postoperative infection was 6.3 and 6.5% in treated and control groups respectively. It is concluded that doxycycline preventive treatment offers no advantage in this type of operative procedure.
