Abstract

A 24-year-old woman acquired a Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia during an influenza A infection. The disease progressed despite treatment with cloxacillin. The staphylococcal strain isolated was found to be tolerant to the bactericidal activity of cloxacillin. Clinical improvement was seen with gentamicin in combination with cefuroxime.
