Summary
The sodium/potassium ratio in thermal sweat before and after chrysotherapy was investigated in 20 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The Na/K ratio rose significantly in all but 4 patients after treatment. The alterations are not due to an adrenocortical stimulation, but a blocking of the pituitary adrenocortical system cannot be excluded.
Résumé
Le rapport Na/K dans la sueur thermique avant et après la chrysothérapie a été étudié sur 20 sujets atteints de polyarthrite chronique évolutive. Ce rapport Na/K augmenta sensiblement dans tous les cas sauf 4 après le traitement. Les altérations ne sont pas dues à une stimulation adrénocorticale mais on ne peut pas exclure un blocage du système pituitaire adrenocortical.
Zusammenfassung
Das Natrium/Kalium-Verhältnis im Wärmeschweiss vor und nach Goldtherapie wurde bei 20 Patienten mit chronischem Gelenkrheumatimus untersucht. Das Natrium/Kalium-Verhältnis stieg signifikant bei allen ausser 4 Patienten nach der Behandlung. Die Veränderungen sind nicht auf eine adrenokortikale Stimulierung zurückzuführen, aber eine Blockierung des Hypophyse—Nebennieresystems kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden.
