Red Blood Cells Sensitized by Incomplete Rabbit Antibodies as a Reagent for Detecting the Rheumatoid Factor

, , &
Pages 202-207 | Published online: 10 Nov 2014

Summary

A new procedure for the detection of the rheumatoid factor was described. The indicator system consisted of blood group G + rabbit erythrocytes sensitized by incomplete anti-G serum of rabbit origin. A titer of agglutination of 1:40 or more was considered as positive reaction. Sixty-three out of one hundred rheumatoid sera tested gave positive reactions whereas only three out of 107 non-rheumatoid sera were positive.
