The Effect of Antiserotonin and Dexamethasone in the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Summary

In order to determine whether antiserotonins might be effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis as suggested by clinical observations and laboratory work with serotonin, two groups of patients were treated differentially with Decadron, Cyproheptadine and Decadron plus Cyproheptadine. This study failed to show any efficacy in the use of Cyproheptadine.

Résumé

Cette étude confirme l'action bien connue du médicament DECADRON dans le traitement de la polyarthrite chronique évolutive, mais elle n'a pas pu démontrer d'action positive de la CYPROHEPTADINE. L'auteur n'a pas constaté d'effet augmenté de cette drogue sur le DECADRON chez les malades atteints de P.C.E.

Zusammenfassung

Diese Untersuchung bestätigt die wohlbekannte Wirkung des Heilmittels DECADRON bei der Behandlung des chronischen Gelenkrheumatismus, vermochte aber keine Wirkung des CYPROHEPTADINS nachzuweisen. Der Verfasser konnte keinen erhöhten Einfluss dieser Droge auf DECADRON bei Patienten mit chronischem Gelenkrheumatismus feststellen.
