Joint Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and in Scleroderma (Systemic Sclerosis)

Summary

Ten patients with classical lupus erythematosus and 13 with scleroderma were studied from point of view of joint involvement.

Polyarthritis and polyarthralgia was a main complaint in most of the patients and it was of mild degree.

Two patients one with typical scleroderma with subcutaneous nodules and another with LE cells are described in detail.

Résumé

Dix patients atteints de Lupus érythémateux disséminé typique et atteints de sclérodermie ont été étudiés au point de vue d'un trouble articulaire. Chez la plupart des patients la polyarthrite et les douleurs polyarticulaires, d'intensité moyenne, étaient le symptôme essentiel.

Deux patients dont l'un était atteint de sclérodermie typique avec nodules souscutanés et l'autre présentant des cellules de L. E., ont été décrits en détail.

Zusammenfassung

Zehn an typischem Lupus erythematosus disseminatus und an Sklerodermie leidenden Patienten wurden in Bezug auf eine etwaige Gelenkstörung untersucht. Bei der Mehrzahl der Patienten war das wesentliche Symptom eine Polyarthritis sowie polyartikulare Schmerzen von mittlerer Intensität.

Zwei Fälle, (einer mit typischer Sklerodermie mit subkutanen Knötchen und der andere mit L. E.-Zellen), werden ausführlich beschrieben.
