Abstract

Ingestion of the drug Ecstasy is associated with the development of hyperpyrexia, rhabdomyolysis and multiorgan dysfunction. We report a case in which primary myocardial damage resulting in cardiac dysfunction was detected despite the presence of rhabdomyolysis. This has not been previously reported. We explore the difficulties and the importance of making such a diagnosis in these complex patients.
