Memoria, sentido trágico y el viaje de aniquilación en Hotel Atlântico de João Gilberto Noll

Pages 142-152 | Published online: 07 Aug 2010

Abstract

This article examines the role of memory and the motif of the journey in the 1989 novel Hotel Atlântico, by Brazilian writer João Gilberto Noll. The construction of the antihero in the novel allegorizes the problematic displacement of postmodern subjectivities in conjunction with the new sense of tragic consciousness as a result of different relationships with space, mourning, and the past.
