A Long Walk to the Water's Edge

Pages 30-35 | Published online: 07 Aug 2010

Abstract

Middle school students examine data from the Great Lakes region, assess impact of climatic changes, and relate climate and water processes in a concept map. After learning how lake water levels will likely decline, they listen to a story about a grandparent revisiting the lakeshore with a grandchild. In the role of the grandparent and then of the child, they visualize the changed shore and write their impressions of the science and the impact on society.
