Using an Exploratory Internet Activity & Trivia Game to Teach Students about Biomes

Pages 19-24 | Published online: 07 Aug 2010

Abstract

Students in life science classes need an introduction to biomes, including an introduction to the concept, key biotic and abiotic features of biomes, and geographic locations of biomes. In this activity, students in seventh- and eighth-grade science classes used a directed exploratory Internet activity to learn about biomes. The author tested student understanding with pre- and post-activity quizzes, a letter-writing activity, and a competitive trivia game.
