Abstract
Through a study of La Bohemia (1998) by Argentinian play-wright Sergio Boris, the author demonstrates how marginalized entities create a community based on shared absences (lack of family, sight, and wealth). Following Svetlana Boym's theory, this community is established through a reflexive nostalgia. However, when the tense and hostile environment outside the community pushes its members toward disidentification with their peers, devastation is imminent. The participants' subversive behavior generated by the egocentrism of the original unifying nostalgia ultimately destroys the community in a violent and fatal act.
