Canadian Institutes of Health Research funds multi-year research program on chronic disease prevention in northern populations

Abstract

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has recently approved under its Team Grantsprogram the establishment of the CIHR Team in Circumpolar Chronic Disease Prevention, withfunding of $7.77 million CDN over 5 years. The team consists of principal investigators, co-investigatorsand collaborators from several academic research centres, regional health authorities, and indigenouspeoples’ organizations. The team leader is Prof. Kue Young of the University of Toronto.
