Abstract

At the beginning of this year I am happy toinform that Int J Circumpolar Health hasjoined the chorus of other scientific medicaljournals and taken a step forward in electronicpublishing. We have recently developed ourinformation exchange between the journaland NLM’s MEDLINE/PubMed system. Thisinvolves establishing an electronic submissionof published material to PubMed which ensuresspeedy entry of citation and abstract data intothe system. Hence, any future published articleswill be quickly available to the scientificcommunity. The next step involves developingthe practices of publishing electronic publicationahead of print, which would occur immediatelyafter the authors have accepted the finalproofs of their articles. All of these manoeuvresare aimed at reducing lags in publishingand facilitating the transfer of research informationto the scientific community.
