Power spectra of turbulence in the free atmosphere¹

Abstract

Presently known data on the spectrum distribution of turbulence energy in the free atmosphere near jet-stream level are combined from various Russian, Australian and American sources. A comparison is made between these data. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of clear-air turbulence (CAT).
