Wind-driven currents in a long rotating channel

Pages 243-249 | Received 28 Feb 1966, Published online: 15 Dec 2016

Abstract

Boundary-layer type solutions are obtained for currents generated in a homogeneous fluid in a long rotating channel by a steady wind stress acting along or across the channel. Included are viscous wall boundary layers which arise necessarily from secondary circulations transverse to the axis of the channel, and from no slip conditions at the wall.
