Experimental integration of a 4-level primitive equation model of the atmosphere

Abstract

A numerical weather prediction model is presented. Care has been taken to select the reference levels in such a way that a good description of the vertical structure of the atmosphere is obtained. An experimental integration is performed, starting with a small perturbation superimposed on a linear baroclinic flow. The results are analyzed and discussed, with special emphasis on the frontogenetic processes.
