Correction problems in electronic distance measurements

Pages 549-567 | Received 27 Mar 1969, Published online: 15 Dec 2016

Abstract

In electronic distance measurements the transit time for the signal from the instrument to the far point and back again is determined. From this, the slope distance between the points is computed, taking into account the variability of the refractive index along the path (Part 1). The slope distance is then reduced to the geodesic on the reference ellipsoid (Part 2).
