Multiple Currents in the Gulf Stream SystemFootnote

Pages 230-233 | Received 20 Sep 1952, Published online: 15 Dec 2016

Abstract

A new interpretation of the accumulated temperature and salinity data from the Gulf Stream Area indicates that the System is made up of a series of overlapping currents. These currents are separated by relatively weak countercurrents. Data from a recent survey are presented as supporting this hypothesis.
