Abstract
In a recent publication, Wu (1989) has argued that the majority of the marine aerosol consists of jet drops as opposed to film drops. I would suggest that this conclusion is incorrect, being based on poor estimates of the oceanic flux of large bubbles. In addition, Wu relies entirely on a single study of film drop production which, whilst of great value, was restricted to the measurement of film drops of greater than 8 μm (Resch et al., 1986). Other studies have revealed that a für greater number of smaller film drops are produced (Blanchard and Syzdek, 1988).
