When patients have multiple sensitivities or allergy symptoms that are severe, year- round, and not adequately controlled by conventional drugs, physicians may consider immunotherapy. A number of conditions can render a patient a poor candidate for this treatment. But with careful screening for risk factors and equally careful diagnosis, administration, and dosage adjustment, allergen injection therapy can safely provide significant, long-lasting relief.
