When are they cause for concern?

Very few pregnancies are complicated by urinary calculi. But when stones do occur, pregnancy in turn can complicate the diagnosis and treatment. Because delayed or inappropriate treatment can have serious consequences for both mother and fetus, it is important for physicians to suspect stones when patients present with suggestive symptoms. The authors review the relevant literature, describe predisposing factors and diagnostic steps, and evaluate methods of treatment.
