Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a common disorder. With the introduction of a number of new pharmaceuticals in recent years, the therapeutic arsenal for GERD available to clinicians has expanded. This article reviews the current medical and surgical options for short-term and long-term treatment of GERD.
