Endobronchial techniques in lung cancer

Despite improved diagnostic techniques, lung cancer is still most often inoperable when patients present for care. Palliative interventions are needed in these cases. In this article, Dr Midthun describes four endobronchial techniques that can be used alone or in combination to administer treatment (photodynamic therapy) or to relieve symptoms (laser therapy, implantation of prosthetic airway stents, and brachytherapy).
