Endocrine emergencies are mercifully rare, but when they do occur, early diagnosis is essential. Because nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are common with these disorders, endocrine problems sometimes are not thought of until the patient is critically ill. What are the clues that might tip you off to this type of emergency? This article discusses the common presentations, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment of classic endocrine emergencies.
