HIV has significantly altered the face of healthcare and the lives of virtually everyone in our communities. The risk of transmission, particularly through needle stick injuries, continues to be a major concern for all of us working in healthcare services. Dr Thurn reviews new information about modes of HIV transmission, ways to reduce risks, and guidelines for managing exposures, should they occur.
